Where are they now?

Since diskant’s been around for around fifteen years, we’ve crossed paths with many many awesome folks. Some were here for the full run and others contributed only once. Many of the diskant writers became some of my best friends and a lot of us still keep in contact.

The main cause of diskant’s decline into inactivity is that all these people are so awesome they set up their own blogs and websites, started amazing indie businesses or worked their way into impressive new jobs, had kids, moved across the globe and played in awesome bands. I asked everyone to tell me what they’re up to now so read on and enjoy.

If you’re an ex-diskant writer, or were part of the golden years of diskant Yahoo groups and the like, please email diskant-overlord at diskant dot net and tell us what you’re up to.

Marceline Smith (founder and Overlord)

I’m still in Glasgow, still with my fingers in many pies (both literally and figuratively). I’m a full-time creative type now, spending most of my time designing cute products as Asking For Trouble, building blogs and ecommerce stores for nice clients and running Pushpin Zines, a zine distro. I’m still making new zines (and even self-published a book) and blog regularly at Asking For Trouble, Super Cute Kawaii and I Like Zines. I spend all my money on old books and plan to move to the seaside soon. I’m also on Twitter a lot if you like hearing about my postal issues and being told to go and look at Jupiter. I miss you all.

Simon Minter

Websites I’m involved with or run now are Fourier TransformnineteenpointMusic In Oxford.co.uk, as well as loads of band and other sites I maintain for people…

Stuart Fowkes

I’m doing these things:
Band – www.listingships.com
Festival – www.audioscope.co.uk
Writing crap – www.thespiderhill.com

Dave Stockwell

Souvaris passed into the next realm in February 2012 after 12 years of activity (and inactivity). Though I don’t actively contribute to Damn You! any more, I still do my best to support local independent music in Nottingham and now play in afrobeat/disco/krautrock-loving power trio Cantaloupe (Blog | Soundcloud | Bandcamp)

Alex McChesney

Living in Austin, Texas with his wife and two children.  He makes horrible “music” under the name I Am The Hand and is currently working on a horrible video game. He can be found on Twitter or whichever social network is cool this week.

Pascal Ansell

Working on solo noise/electronics project Panelak and playing in guitar/drums duo The Mayans Were Right. Also attending Leeds Writers Circle meetings, am volunteering with Leeds Asylum Seekers Support Network, and have joined the Quakers.

Justin Snow

I’m still doing my thing at Anti-Gravity Bunny.
